Principal’s Message

Term 2, Week 1

We have started the term well and we are up and away! After a massive eleven-week Term 1, I am sure this one will fly with Term 2 only consisting of nine weeks.

COVID Update

As we know COVID keep changing our world. What I can tell you is this:

  1. Masks are no longer required at all in the school context, however those who feel safer to do so, can choose to wear them.
  2. Isolating of close contacts is no longer required. I am sure this will make a huge positive change for families.
  3. RAT testing has been continued for the first four weeks of this term.

Responsible Use of Electronic Devices and Social Media

One of the by-products of COVID times has been an increase reliance on technology to support learning. At school, the expectation is that our laptop is a tool for learning. Students should bring their charged device to school every day. As we return to face-to-face learning, we resume the DET expectation that phones are off and away all day.

The prevalence of social media platforms is far greater today in 2022, than it was in 2020 and even more so than 2000. We know that whilst these platforms have fantastic features and help us stay connected to friends and family; the flip side is that they can also be used to bully, harass and intimidate others. At Phoenix, we will be addressing this issue in the coming weeks by providing education sessions to students and additional sessions for parents. Tips for pro-active supervision of use of social media will be provided via our newsletter as well as printed information being available for parents at Parent/Teacher Interviews.

ANZAC Day

I was proud of the way in which our students represented the College at serval ANZAC services across the community.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Thursday 5th May – 12pm-7pm

We look forward to finally welcoming our parents back to three-way conversations next week. We know that these are invaluable in enhancing the learning of our students. Bookings for these will open on Friday 29th April via Compass.
