Academy of Industry
At the end of last Term, our Year 10 Academy of Industry students had a workplace visit to Maxitrans manufacturing plant. The students walked through the plant and observed a semi-trailer be built from start to finish, including automated CNC plasma cutting of components, robotic welders being used to weld the main frames and robotic spray painting. The students learnt that Maxitrans is transitioning into automation of their manufacturing process and people with programming and problem solving skills will be needed in the future.
Maxitrans has been a big supporter of local manufacturing in Ballarat and is looking at increasing employment opportunities for young workers. Maxitrans also has a major focus on increasing opportunities for females enter their current work force, this was a real positive experience for our female student to see.
Thank you to Liz and her training team for allowing us the opportunity to visit their manufacturing plant.
