Tutor Learning Initiative Program 2022

Read Time: ( words)

The Tutor Learning Initiative Program will once again be running at Phoenix P-12 Community College in 2022. The program was implemented in 2021 to help support student learning due to the continual disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are lucky enough to have several tutors working across both campuses, assisting in the delivery of our literacy and numeracy curriculum. The tutors will be able to provide academic, social, and emotional assistance and encouragement to our Phoenix students throughout the year. In addition to in-class support, there will be a lunch time ‘Tutor Club’ held Monday and Friday lunch times in the library.  This will enable all Phoenix students an opportunity to gain extra support with one-on-one tutors.

We are so proud of the way students embraced the program in 2021 and are looking forward to another successful year.

Hertford Street and Albert Street Construction Begins

Works to upgrade the Hertford Street and Albert Street intersection will start from Friday 28 January 2022.

Under our Keeping Ballarat Moving program, we’re replacing the roundabout with traffic lights and dedicated pedestrian crossing points to improve safety and traffic flow.

Early works will require the full closure of the Albert/Hertford/Sayle streets intersection on the weekends of 28–30 January and 5–6 February.

Business and residential access will be maintained during these weekend closures. U-turn movements will be permitted at each leg to allow public access to nearby businesses along Albert and Hertford Streets.

To fast track works and minimise disruption for community, a section of Hertford Street between Albert Street and Clarkson Street will be closed to all traffic for six weeks, from 7 February to 21 March, weather permitting.

This closure will reduce the construction time on this leg by several months, leaving Hertford Street unimpacted for the remainder of the upgrade. Detours will be in place for general traffic and heavy vehicles along Rubicon Street and Sutton Street.

Travel delays are expected during works, particularly during peak periods. If travelling through this area plan ahead to avoid delays or consider taking an alternative route.

To find out more about these works and to see plans of the upgrades, visit this link: Hertford Street (Glenelg Highway) and Albert Street (Midland Highway) intersection.

If you have any questions about the planned upgrades, please contact Regional Roads Victoria:

Secondary School Immunisation Program

Read Time: ( words)

The secondary school immunisation program offers free vaccines provided by the National Immunisation Program each year to students in Year 7 and Year 10. The local council immunisation service visits the school to provide the vaccination program.

Look out for the information and consent form

Parents/guardians of students in Year 7 and Year 10 should look out for the vaccine information and consent form coming home from school with your child. You need to read the information, complete, and return the consent form. If you choose not to consent for your child to be vaccinated as part of the school-based immunisation program, you also need to return the consent form.

Students who missed school vaccines due to COVID-19

Some students now in Year 8 and Year 11 may need to complete their vaccine program this year to catch-up the missed vaccines. The local council immunisation service will advise parents/guardians and work with the school to deliver any catch-up vaccines due to students. The consent that you provided last year for the school-based immunisation program remains valid and you do not need to complete another consent form.??
